The expansion inputs are installed as standard and dipswitch 1 is set by default to indicate this. To check the dipswitch settings:
Navigate to: Administer -> System Health -> Device
Expansion inputs should be set to on if they are to be used:
To connect expansion input 1:
Use a N/O contact of e.g. a control relay to complete the circuit.
NOTE: If any other wiring design is to be used, contact LineView Solutions for advice first.
RECOMMENDATION: When selecting a signal source, use an existing signal. New and dedicated signals tend not to be maintained as a priority. Signals that are part of the machine operation are very visible when they fail and will be repaired quickly.
Sinking V Sourcing
The system can be wired in either sinking or sourcing modes. The configuration is determined by the on-board dipswitch.
By default, the dipswitch is set to off (down) = sinking.
When in sinking mode, all connections should use the available on-board Gnd connection, to complete the circuit.
When in sourcing mode, all connections should use the 12 volt connection, terminal 9 of the standard input block, to complete the circuit (or an external supply – see the manufacturer’s instructions)
NOTE: Dipswitch settings only take effect after a reboot.
There is not an equivalent configuration table as per the Standard Inputs. Instead, the XL unit triggers programs in the 7xx range depending on whether the input is on or off.
To find the relevant programs, login and navigate to:
Administer -> Configure Device -> Inputs and Outputs -> Expansion Inputs
